Let’s Bake Cupcakes!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 24 cupcake pans with paper liners. Set aside until ready to use.
- Make cake mix according to package directions. Fill each cupcake mold evenly with cupcake batter ¾ full.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or according to package directions for cupcakes.
- Carefully remove from oven and cool 10 minutes on wire racks in cupcake pans. Remove cupcakes from pans and slightly push 1 Hershey’s kiss into the center of each cupcake. The tip of the kiss should be showing. Cool cupcakes 10 minutes on wire racks before frosting or decorating.
Let’s Make Frosting!
- With an electric mixer, beat butter in a large bowl until fluffy. Add powdered sugar, a little at a time, until you have used all 4 cups.
- Add vanilla, 1 tablespoon milk and orange paste food coloring. Mix until smooth and creamy. Add more milk if needed to form a smooth frosting consistency.
- Frost cupcakes generously with piles of lava frosting, letting some drip down the sides. Garnish with red sprinkles or sugar.
